Hebrews 6:19
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
I took this picture last summer in Wisconsin along Lake Michigan where I grew up. It is absolutely beautiful in the summer. As my family and I were visiting and walking around the lake, we came upon this BIG ANCHOR that has been there for years. As I stood next to that anchor, God reminded me that no matter what I faced in life, His promises would be my anchor to tether me securely into Him so I would not be tossed by the waves of life.
The Bible tells us that we will face troubles of many kinds in this world and that we should not be surprised…it’s going to happen. Those waves of life are going to feel big at times and we may even feel like we have been shipwrecked! However, God has given us tools, weapons, and a battle plan that will not only give us the victory we need but will destroy the works of the enemy. One of the greatest weapons we can use during the hardships of life is God’s powerful Word. The living, breathing Word of God is active and it promises it will not return void. God tells us in Psalm 46:10 that we need only to be still and know He is God! When the waves of life are crashing, just toss over your Anchor and let God steady you, embrace you and hold you securely. Rest in Him and know that He is bigger than anything you face!
Remember, even when we can’t see Him, he is working! Even when we can’t feel Him, He is working! Keep praying, don’t give up…anchor yourself in the One who loves you deeply and knows you better than you know yourself! God is faithful…draw close to Him and He will draw close to you! (James 4:8)
